Villa Sandalo, Barbados
Of all the villas to rent in Barbados, Sandalo shines out as an exceptional property, situated on a beachfront site, shaded by many mature mahogany trees on the island’s renowned Gibbs Beach. It is probably the highest quality and best-maintained villa in Barbados, full of marble and fine art.
Walk, or paddle in the gently lapping waves (or send your bodyguard?), to Mullin's Beach and they'll send a boat to pick you up for watersports. Dine in your own Gazebo under the stars, with your own staff to serve your needs, and wander down to watch the turtles on the beach.
Architect Ian Morrison has overseen the total renovation and refurbishment of this outstanding home of more than 6,000 sq ft. Sandalo offers a total of five bedrooms - four in the main house (all on the upper level) as well as a one-bedroom guest cottage on the villa grounds.
There is a media room equipped with state-of-the-art plasma TV, electronic games and surround sound. Broadband internet access is available, of course. The air-conditioned kitchen is custom designed with cabinets by Joshua Jones of the UK.
Three of the bedrooms upstairs open to balconies and all have wonderful views of the pool, gardens and Caribbean Sea.
The swimming pool is surrounded by a partly covered spacious terrace ideal for entertaining. There is also a delightful poolside gazebo suitable for alfresco dining.
Guests to Sandalo are well looked after in a descreet manner by an efficient and friendly staff. Even our current Prime Minister and his family have been to Sandalo several times!
A beach gate leads to the beautiful white beach and there is a further seating area at the beach gate. Chaise loungers and umbrellas are placed on the beach daily for guests use.
