Restaurant and Fine Dining
Guide to Barbados
Whilst staying at Sandalo, you’ll have your own chef. However, if you do manage to tear yourself away from the villa (difficult, we know), here’s a small selection of what we consider are some of the best places to indulge your tastebuds in Barbados.
Daphne's Restaurant, Barbados
Located at Paynes Bay, St James, on the west coast of Barbados just 20
minutes from the cosmopolitan capital of Bridgetown. Daphne’s Barbados
is an integral part of the Elegant Hotels Group, and as such, combines the
fine Italian menu made famous by its London counterpart with a wondrous location.
El Gecko Restaurant, Barbados
Situated in Second Street, Holetown, this former chattel house is now a
vibrant bar and restaurant. It oozes that Mexican feel, with the Mexican
flag, sombreros, cactus and geckos, but the restaurant also caters for the
less adventurous, with a wide selection of International, predominantly
English, cuisine.
El Gecko stands out from other West Coast establishments with its casual
attitude – any clothes will do! Children are also made welcome, rare
on the West Coast, and a special child’s menu is available, with free
ice-cream. The restaurant is open Tuesday to Sunday from 6pm till 10pm, but
the bar remains open until the last customer leaves. Though usually closed
during the day, the bar opens to show major sporting events.
